Sage and Onion Flatbread

This quick and easy flatbread is brimming with caramelized onions and crispy sage.  I made this flatbread to accompany soup but it’s just as delicious on its own served as an appetizer. For this recipe you will need:

  • 16oz bag of prepared supermarket bread dough
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 large white or yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 5-10 fresh sage leaves, sliced lengthwise
  • 3 tablespoons Victoria Taylor's Holiday Seasoning

Preheat oven to 350F. Let dough rest at room temperature for 20 minutes. Pull and stretch dough into a 10 inch circle or rectangle. Place the flatbread on a 14 inch pan with small holes in it or a parchment lined baking sheet. Caramelize sliced onions in oil and butter until soft and slightly brown, (about 10 minutes). Combine the onions with Victoria Taylor's Holiday Seasoning. Spread onion mixture over bread dough. Place sage pieces over onion mixture. Bake for 25 minutes until medium brown. Best, Victoria
